I agree. Think about it? Someone dies in their home from natural causes, someone drowns in a pool. I have always been under the impression that if you die OUTSIDE of a hospital the ME has to pronounce you. |

Just going by the official report that said the first view of body was the NCME office, not the crime scene.
If the ME was at the home, it was not documented.

Alright, I listened enough to the medical examiner testimony at Latrese Curtis' trial to get an understanding as to what the forms mean. The ME testified that Steve Dubner, MD, a pathologist/forensic employee, ME in training, went to the crime scene along with Kevin Gerity, the morgue manager. At that time, they took pictures and wrote a report for the ME's office to review for the autopsy. Steve Dubner is the one who authorized the autopsy.
Then I looked at Eve Carson's autopsy and it's like Janet's, Michelle's and Latrese's, so this must be SOP. And the person that authorized Michelle's autopsy is an Asst Medical Examiner, not a trainee. |

TOD...thinking back on testimony from the ME at the Christian/Newsom murder trial, she was able to determine within hours of when Chris was raped & then died. I can't recall the word she used, something like nephrills, and their appearance indicated the age of the tearing/bruises. IIRC, she was able to pin point a timeline for some of Channon's injuries that way too.
Shame she's not the Chief ME in Raleigh, smart woman and takes no guff from the defense. |

I'm concerned at what is happening recently at IS. Cardinal and enigma have issued formal 'good byes' to the MY forum saying their good name was being destroyed or something. Seemed like a reaction to the allowance of the forum to vilify Meredith, which I've challenged all along (it's disgusting there). There are posts being deleted which didn't break TOS - innocuous posts, so not sure what is in the air. Is there a lawsuit in the works or something?
With the vehemence that is exhibited against Scout when one of her forum members posts derogatory information about someone other than Jason (and her subsequent vigilance to adhere to her good standards), I am wondering if any action is being considered against forums which allow the constant smearing and allegations against Meredith. I would think there is ample evidence of damage.

The whole thing about Meredith was, those murderer sycophants needed someone else to be the suspect. They knew this was not a random murder, and in their frantic attempts to support Jason they had to find another not-random person of interest, as improbable as a Meredith link was, they were grasping.
Now that Jason has been arrested, their crazy and evil attempts at villifying Meredith hold no water (not that it ever held water), but they now can't hide behind the illusion that the police really did have other suspects.
Now that Jason has been arrested, any attempts to smear Meredith could have legal ramifications. If she wanted to hire a lawyer and sue these people, they would have no leg to stand on, with a suspect already awaiting trail. They can no longer hide behind the facade there was no arressted suspect. There is one now. |

You have been watching too much CSI and LA Coroner
The ME signs off on the deaths you described, but may or may not go at the scene or order an autopsy. The decedent can be 'pronounced' at the hospital or morgue.....this is what a Wake County Paramedic told me this am.

I know here in Johnston County, NC if it is not death by fatality or suspicious, then you go right to the funeral home. Otherwise decedent's are brought the the morgue, located at Johnston Memorial. The ME will do an investigation on the body then if he can't determine COD the body is sent to Chapel Hill.

I know this because I work in the medical field here in Johnston County and my coworker has to go down to the morgue all the time to help the ME. Mostly to extract blood from the thorax for toxicology. I'm sure Wake County is similar.
In MY case the paramedic's probaly pronouced her and then the CSI people took pics and so forth. I don't see the ME coming to the scene.

Thanks for that info, Landonsmom. Boy o Boy, all the things that appear to be faux pas', in reality are just the norm. This is good to know! Something tells me the defense is well aware of the procedures, but will still try to make a case around it, something like the MOWrons @ IS... ok ok I know it's morons, I just felt like X-aggeratin' some.

You are not gonna believe this but I've never seen either one of those shows.  Come to think of it, I had an uncle who died in his sleep. The fire dept had to break into his house. The coroner just signed off on it over the phone. |

Oh dear, don't make me go & resurrect one of my old nics to set those people straight! I'm not sure about any actions against forums, but IS would be a prime one to attack. I'm all for it, demmit! Meanwhile, I am looking forward to 2/17 & 3/18 - I just wish some info would trickle out before either date. Talk about zipped lips! No jury pools have been tainted, that's for sure.

that news report missed a big chance to warn women (and men who are being abused) what the red flags are that signal that your life is in danger!
the online report that accompanied the video said "
Janet Abaroa was pregnant at the time of her murder and had a 6-year-old son." that is incorrect. their son was six months old.

By now Pat Young has gotten used to having her life back. No unemployed, murder suspect living in her home. No matter how much she loves him, it must be like someone's lifted a weight off her shoulders. No waiting for LE to make their move. No waking up in the middle of the night by an unknown noise, wondering if it's Jason........................

She strikes me as a woman that "dares you to speak of it". She probably goes about her daily routine with her head held high and no one speaks of it, not to her face anyway. Is it killing her inside? I dunno. I don't know just how far denial goes.

I'm so not Tia. The snow is already piled so high around us where will we put it? Bucket it into the house and into the tub? Its just crazy! I have family in North Wildwood that has no power and with another storm coming they won't have power til March!
I started working on my boss yesterday to close the office tomorrow. We shall see!
